The Russian business is improving positions in India

Issues of economic cooperation of the two countries were discussed at a meeting of Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, with representatives of business of Russia and India in New Delhi.

The President sited good prospects for implementation of large investment programs at the territory of India. To finance them, funds due to Russia from India in settlement of its debt, could be used.

Speaking about cooperation in fuel and energy complex, V. Putin stressed that Russia was interested to develop joint work with India in construction of oil and natural gas production and transportation facilities at the territory of India and in the neighboring region. 

V. Putin expressed hope that the trade turnover of India and Russia would triple by 2010.

Boris Vainzikher, general director of Silovye Mashiny, Vladimir Yevtushenkov, head of AFK Systema, Andrey Kazmin, head of Sberbank, Victor Korman, general director of Ural automobile plant, Igor Makarov, head of ITERA Oil and Gas Company, Sergey Molozhavy, head of Tekhnopromexport, Boris Obnosov, general director of Tactical Rocketry Corporation, Mikhail Pogosian, head of Sukhoy aviation holding company, Alexey Fedorov, president of the United Aviation Construction Corporation, Sergey Chemezov, general director of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Shokhin, president of RSPP, Vladimir Yakunin, president of Rossiskiye Zheleznye Dorogi (Russian Railroads) OJSC participated in the meeting on the part of Russia.

A joint Russia-India statement was issued in result of the President’s visit. "The Parties point out an important role currently played by energy as a foundation for economic growth, and pay special attention to issues of energy security",- states the document.

V.Putin and Manmokhan Singh, Prime-Minister of India, welcomed the "concept of energy security", that envisions an acceptable balance between interests of consumers and producers of energy.

" In view of their resources, demand, possibilities and the potentialities, the Parties agreed to develop direct dialog between oil and gas companies of the two countries aimed at making concrete mutually advantageous commercial agreements on joint work in all segments of oil and gas cooperation in Russia, India and third countries",- the statement points out.
