Yuri Boiko: the Ukraine and ITERA are planning energy project of scale

2007-02-17 Published: RBC-Ukraine

The Ukraine and ITERA are planning energy project of scale. This is what Yuri Boiko, Minister of Energy of Ukranie, has stated, – press-service of the Ministry of Fuel and Energy reports.

ITERA has brought quite an interesting coal-bed methane production project. This is a very topical issue for us, - he commented on the meeting of Victor Yanukovich, Prime-minister of Ukraine, with Igor Makarov, head of ITERA International Group of Companies.  "ITERA insists its technology to produce methane from coal-beds would allow for enhanced safety in coal mines in result of their degassing, and for annual production of up to 8 billion cu m of methane".

Minister said that a working group has been set up. Eupheme Zviagilsky, member of the Parliament (Party of Regions), was invited to join the working group. It was E. Zviagilsky who initiated the implementation of this project at the coal-mine named after Zasiadko. According to Yu.Boiko, Yuly Ioffe, Deputy-Minister of fuel and energy, had contacted Mr. I. Makarov’s adviser involved with this problem on February 15. "They will come for us to begin the practical project development ", - the minister said.

According to information served by ITERA, the company had perfected the technology within a pilot project in the USA.
