Ashikhara-Karate ITERA sports club, the core of Russian national team, has again earned compliments of martial arts fans with a brilliant victory at the world championship tournament, which has just ended at the ancient Danish town of Viborg.
Time and again Russian anthem was played in honor of our sportsmen who won eight times in individual championship, while the total of 20 medals of various values made up their collective prize eventually resulting in the top position in team classification.
In his comment on our team’s performance, Valery Ryzhkov, its chief coach and the leader of Ashikhara-Karate ITERA club pointed out that ITERA’s employee Alexander Lavrushin gained his second world championship gold medal in a row, while his club mate Victoria Andreyevskaya won her gold for the first time.
The audience repeatedly applauded the performance of our boys and girls who came from all over the country: Moscow and Voronezh, Moscow region and Stavropol krai, Samara and Ulyanovsk, St. Petersburg, Nizhnevartovsk and Nalchik.
Valery Ryzhkov believes that the team’s brilliant success can be rightfully shared by the group of coaches, i.e. Veniamin Chikadze, Yevgeny Golovikhin, Oleg Gagolkin and, the last but not least, senior coach Vitaly Astanin.
The chief coach attributes the growing popularity of the new type of martial arts, along with the success of the Russian national team at the most prestigious tournament, to the continual care extended to the team and the club by its longtime general sponsor, ITERA oil and gas company.
