An open bicycling championship of ITERA International Group of Companies (ITERA IGC) had taken place in small Olympic ring in Krylatskoye. Together with ITERA representatives eminent racers from Russia and foreign countries including Belgium, Germany, Moldavia, Poland, France, Switzerland took part in the competition.
Loran Finion, a French racer, a two-times winner in Tour de France, was the first in making five circles in a group road race where famous winners and prizewinners in the Olympic games, World and Europe championship participated. Igor Makarov, a world-class athlete, Chairman of the ITERA IGC Board of Directors, occupied the second step of the podium. Iohan Muzeuf (Belgium), the World Champion, was the third.
Vladimir Grishechko, Chief Editor of the ProVelo Magazine, was the best in a mountain bike competition.
It was in accordance with the good tradition that children of ITERA employees competed in the championship, as well. Alexandra Amelkhina won with great advantage in that competition. Silver and bronze medals won Danila Mager and Maxim Telegin. Medals, diplomas and valuable presents were given to adults and children.
In addition to the catching contestation on route, bicycle racers demonstrated again shop solidarity and nobility: winners in the ITERA Championship decided to give US$ 10 thousand of their prize money to parents of a seven year-old Marina Deviatkova who lived in Tyumen and suffered from a grave form of leucosis. The girl is to go through a very complicated surgical operation in Germany.
