Inauguration of a modern sports complex with a stadium for 10 thousand spectators was held in Turkmenabat (the Lebapski velayat) on April 5.
This is the first facility of a social importance constructed by the Russian contractors in Turkmenistan in the past decades.
The largest sports facility in Lebapski velayat in the eastern region of the country has been constructed by ITERA Development Group, an ITERA International Group company.
This is the first project that has been successfully implemented by the Company in Turkmenistan.
It looked like the whole of Turkmenabat was celebrating the inauguration of the luxurious sports complex. Even guests from Moscow, experienced in various metropolitan shows, acknowledged they could not recall such a bright and emotional show. For townspeople, it was a lavish present they’ve been waiting with impatience for.
Ten thousand spectators in the new stadium rostrum welcomed distinguished guests and participants in the construction of the magnificent complex.
A colorful and engrossing sporting and musical performance in partnership of thousands of young athletes of the velayat and national concert collectives developed on a soccer field. A soccer match of local teams caused a lot of interest. Apalling fireworks in the evening sky crowned the celebratory performance.
Khydyr Saparlyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Yagshymyrat Yaiylov, khyakim of the Lebapski velayat, Alexei Demin, Charge d'affaires ad interim the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan, heads of a number of ministries, representatives of the national and Russian mass media participated in the celebrity ceremony.
Igor Makarov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ITERA International Group of Companies, when addressing the festivity, pointed out that «the construction of the sporting complex adumbrated a new working stage of ITERA in Turkmenistan, which ITERA used to cooperate fruitfully with in oil and gas industries for many years».
It is necessary to say that the design of the new complex meets all international standards. The stadium is impressive with its comfort, technical facilities and the bright architectural look. It allows for not only grasping soccer battles, but also massive cultural shows. One cannot see conventional light masts there. They are substitute with hundreds of floodlight projectors installed in the anchoring of the light sailing sheds able to protect viewers from any foul weather. Advanced VDUs and screens, other equipment allow for high degree of information provision and staginess for any event to be held here.
In addition to the stadium, a sporting center with a swimming pool, halls for combat sports and gymnastics, tennis-courts, basketball and volleyball playgrounds and other open playgrounds, as well as a hotel, a coffee shop and a parking are located there on 17.5 ha of the modern sports complex.
The complex has been constructed by ITERA Development Group within a record ten months. On an initiative of the head of the state, similar sporting facilities are to appear in other velayats of Turkmenistan.
There are a lot of construction sites in Turkmenabat on the cool Amu-Darya River bank. In addition to the sports complex, which stands out in immensity among other buildings of the city, a beautiful Rukhyet palace, and Ene miakhri center have been constructed here. Magnificent buildings of the historic-regional museum, a multimedia school, the first one in this velayat, a modern cotton-mill and a mill complex will soon be added to the architectural ensemble of the administrative center of Lebapski velayain in the nearest future.
The first horse racing in the new hippodrome, to be constructed by ITERA Development Group, are planned to be held in Terkmenabat in late 2010. The company shall construct a similar hippodrome in Balkan velayat, too. Ceremonial laying of symbolic capsules in the two horse sports complexes is planned as early as in April. The projects include rostrum for 3000 seats, and race-courses. Every hippodrome shall be equipped with four stables and a pool for horses, training courts, veterinary-laboratory facilities, doping control center and buildings for household and technical service of animals. Construction of an amphitheater, nomads tent-pavilions and a restaurant is planned to be able to hold celebratory events.
ITERA Development Group is also involved in construction of an office center in Ashkhabad and a hotel complex in the Avaza resort zone in the Caspian Sea shore in Turkmenistan. This zone is going to turn into a tourist Mecca with dozens of high-grade hotels, sanatoriums, and leisure and trade centers within the nearest decade.
